Citation Databases Databases Encyclopaedias and Biographical Directories Full Texts Journals and Newspapers Law Library Catalogues Official Documents Research Information Search Engines Statistics Subject Gateways and Digital Libraries Citation Databases Apart from using the Web of Science citation index, the following citation databases are available, free of charge, to do a targeted search for citations: Google Scholar Academically-oriented search engine and citation databank. As well as citation verification, a search gives you bibliographic information, links to full texts, text excerpts, abstracts and related literature. The citation verification indicates where and how often the requested literature has been cited. The advanced search allows you to search by author. Harzing's Publish or Perish This is a software program for retrieving and analyzing academic citations, using Google Scholar. You can download the Windows version of the program here. Scirus The world's largest search engine for scientific information. Apart from scientific documents and web pages, references are also collected so that citations can be verified. The advanced search allows you to more detailed request. Databases Directory of scientific databases (DBIS) Directory of free and licensed scientific databases. There are currently more than 6,092 entries, around 2,067 databases are available free of charge on the internet. The entries are sorted by subjects. Among other specifications, the advanced search (Erweiterte Suche) allows you to search by keywords. National licences for databases Since 2004 the DFG (German Research Foundation) has financed national licences for databases, digital collections and electronic journals in order to improve access to electronic resources for German universities, research establishments and research libraries.
Many of these resources are available to individuals as well. Residents of the Federal Republic of Germany may register themselves at www.nationallizenzen.de for free access. Encyclopaedias and Biographical Directories 50 Klassiker der Soziologie The Internet Lexikon contents infomation on the life and work of world-famous sociologists, and selected links for further information. The Internet Lexicon is provided by the "Archiv für die Geschichte der Soziologie in Österreich". The website is part of the Social Science Information System SocioSite based at the University of Amsterdam. Full Texts BASE - Bielefeld Academic Search Engine A multidisciplinary, scientific search engine for bibliographical data of document servers worldwide, selected web sites and local data collections. In some cases, BASE allows a full-text search. EU Publications EU Bookshop is an online service giving access to the publications of the institutions and other bodies of the European Union. A lot is offered free of charge. Many publications are available in PDF format. SSOAR - Social Science Open Access Repository SSOAR provides social science publications, for free, available with full texts. Its goal is to implement the "green road" to open access by providing users with free electronic access to pre-prints and post-prints of publications. Wikisource Wikisource collects and stores in digital format previously published texts; including novels, non-fiction works, letters, speeches, constitutional and historical documents, laws and a range of other documents. All texts collected are either free of copyright or released under a free license. Wikisource is provided by the Wikimedia Foundation. Electronic Journals Library (EZB) Offers an effective use of scientific and academic journals publishing full text articles on the Internet. Almost 29,000 titles covering all subjects. Library Catalogues BiDok - The Library and Documentation Center of the German Council on Foreign Relations BiDok is a specialized library with a focus on German foreign and security policy, international relations and globalization. The library's collection contains 75.000 volumes, 250 journals and electronic publications as well as a press archive dating from 1945-1967. The library is open to the public. KVK - Karlsruhe Virtual Catalogue Meta search interface for German and international library and bookselling catalogues. Library of the German Bundestag Focus on politics and society, law, economics, public administration, and contemporary history. The catalogue contains monographs as well as articles published from 1987 onwards. The library of the German Bundestag is a non-lending library but the catalogue is a recommendabel source for literature research. Stabi - Berlin State Library This general library acquires publications from all fields of knowledge, in all languages, in every available form, from all epochs and all countries - providing they are of interest for academic research and purposes. Currently holds more than 10 million books and periodicals. Technische Universität Berlin - Library Nearly 2.7 million books are accessible in the university’s library collections. 1.8 million volumes are held in the University Library and 900.000 in independent faculty libraries.
